Hello everyone who happens to come across my site.  I have a few things I’d like to mention.

My main computer that I use doesn’t let me open up the catagory list.  So I’m on another computer that does let me do so.  So I’m going to try and use all the catagories in one list here to get them to be able to appear.

I got 2 albums a couple of weeks ago.  They were Warren Zevon albums: Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School, and Sentimental Hygiene.  By the way, if you haven’t been able to tell yet, I’m a huge Warren Zevon fan.

Speaking of Warren Zevon, I’ve been reading his biography, the one by his ex-wife.  I’m a slow reader…but I enjoy it.

Between late December of last year and early June of this year, I was writing a story called Matthew of the IHOP Restroom.  This guy goes to IHOP at 3:30am and goes to the restroom but in stead of going into the restroom, he enters a poratl to the 18th Demension.  The general idea was in response to having read the book STARDUST after having seen the movie about 3 or 4 times.  Anyway, I’ve started writing a spin-off called Dan of a Bank on Metcalf.  Dan was a friend of Matthew who happens to be a loveable idiot…but he’s kind of a pervert when he’s drunk.  If you are interested in reading any of these stories, you can visit my myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/classic_rockaholic

Bruce Springsteen is still coming to town and I still don’t have tickets.  But whatever.  The day before, which is this coming Saturday, I will be performing in my first live improv show.  The place is called The Roving Imp.  It’s in Bonner Springs.  I will be performing a Chicago style Harold with a group of fellow improvers.  I’ve been taking the workshops there at the Roving Imp for about a month now and having the time of my life!

I finally got the licence plate for my Chevy Aveo this last Tuesday.  Good thing to.  The 30-day experation tag was up on Wednesday.  But I got the letter in the mail this week that I have to pay car tax…on my old car that I had to get rid of because of the hail storm.  Now I have to let the state know that I now own the Chevy Aveo.  But also this week, I’ll be going back up to KU for my last full year of classes.  I will be a graduate of the Unversity of Kansas (hopefully) by May ‘09…To give you some idea, I’ve been going to college since Aug. ‘02.  I’m ready to be out.

I found out a week ago that I have an older 1/2 sister.  I mean, I knew that I had 2 older half sisters but it was one of those things that I stuck in the back of my mind.  I’m an only child and I’ve been an only child for 25 years and almost 2 months.  Now, not just do I have sisters, but I’ve also been an uncle for the past 17 years.

I saw Mummy 3 this last Monday and really enjoied it.  I want to go see Tropic Thunder.  I made a comment in my workshop that I already know that Jack Black’s charicter would be the most like me.  They suggested I should see the movie first to make sure the charicter who is most like me ISN’T a rapist.  So, hopefully, he’s not.  I just assumed because I see a lot of myself in a lot of other Jack Black charicters.  But anyway…

Yeah, so this is an update.  I’m sorry if anyone comes along and reads this and thinks I tried to type the most I’ve ever typed for the sole purpose of having more people come to my site.  That is not my intention at all.  I just wanted to make sure I could use all my catagories in one post.

Okay, so I finally saw The Dark Knight and I just wanted to say somethings you can agree with me or disagree with me.  It doesn’t really matter to me which…I just want you to tell me in a response if you agree or disagree.  Either way, I’m sure it’s late enough that most of the people who might read this have already seen it.  So here it goes…

The movie starts with the Joker (played by the now late Heath Ledger) robbing a bank and killing off his hinch men 1by1 as the job gets finished.  When Batman first shows up, he’s got to stop the Scarecrow from doing something scarey (because Scarecrow had escaped from the Assylum or something and can think of nothing better to do than to scare people).  Rachel who was played by Katie Holmes in the first movie was now played by Maggie Gyllenhaal (which is a plus in my opinion…if I had a list of actresses who were total hotties, she’d be towards the top…plus she was never in Dawson’s Creek…or converted to scientology… enough said).  But in this movie, she’s dating politician Harvey Dent played by Aaron Eckhart…you can guess what that will lead to before the movie is even half over (it was very long…)  Anyway, Bruce is jellious…obviuosly.  But he’s Batman so he’s busy trying to stop the Joker from making a joke out of killing people.
This is the movie in a nutshell.  I seem to ironically decided to give more of a joke review but seriously, that is the plot line of the movie.  But besides the fact that the movie is long (and a few other issues that I won’t go into) I really liked this movie…a whole lot better than Batman Begins.  I don’t know if it’s the best movie I’ve seen all summer, but it’s pretty close.  The only thing I wish is that Heath Ledger hadn’t gotten so much into his charicter that it wound up bringing him down to the point where he needed theropy.  He was dedicated to his role to a fault and if it turns out he won’t even get nominated for an oscar for the role, I’ll be pissed at the Acadamy…but I usually don’t agree with the acadamy anyway…we’ll see how that turns out.

Hello everyone. It’s been a while. I realize I haven’t gotten to many hits. It may help if I actually post something worth saying.

My Chevy Malibu got “totaled” in a hail storm we had back on July 2nd. We got some golf ball sized hail (my grandma will try and call it tennis ball sized. I didn’t actually see this size but I don’t doubt it completely). It was totaled because the cost to repair is greater than 75% of the value of the car. So I was given the option to either keep my car, get about $2K for it and loose most of my insurance…or I could sell my car to the insurance company, get $4K for it and keep my insurance.

I sold my car but with the understanding that I had a week or so to get a new car (I was given a week back on the 11th.) So here’s the car that I got… A summit-white 2005 Chevy Aveo LS. It’s like a box with an engine and I love this. It’s small. Also, I get 34mpg on the highway. I’m trying to upload pics but my computer won’t seem to let me…

Anyway, I’ve also become a hypothetical member of an improv group called Hypothetical 7. I’m a member but I have to take some coaching before I can actually perform with them. I’m taking workshops on Saturday to get up to speed with where I should be in order to perform with them.

Oh, and I just bought my first mp3 player today.

Well, I started the title with my car so I guess I’ll talk about it first. My car got bombarded with golf ball size hail on Wednesday. My car has huge dents all over the hood and a huge crack in the windshield…not to mention some of the glass in pieces came down on the driver’s seat. The car is currently at Binswanger Glass in Shawnee, KS where the windshield will be replaced on Monday. As it turned out, the windshield that is currently on the car was not the windshield that was on it when it was first made. The guy said he knows this because the frame that goes around it is on backwards. This would explain why I get rain coming into my car when it rains from underneath the windshield. I also get a sound like a gust of wind hitting my car when I drive on the highway. I hope this sound will be reduced also. Anyway, time will tell on that.
Now the Warren Zevon part. I started reading I’LL SLEEP WHEN I’M DEAD: THE DIRTY LIFE AND TIMES OF WARREN ZEVON. This is a book that was written by his ex wife Crystal Zevon but it contains tidbits of what others (friends, colleagues, and family) had to say from the very early days up to the first 5 hours or so after his death. Anyway. I was reading the part at the front that has some literary praise for the book from magazine and news paper sources as well as others…(Rolling Stone, New York Times, also Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen) but it also has this blurb from the Portland Oregonian that said, and I quote…

“It’s a big book with lots of great stuff in it.”

This is my favorite review of the book and also the one I hate the most. I just can’t get over the fact that if I had written those words, not just would it have never gotten published but it would look like, after attempting to read it, they never finished but they just wanted to say something nice about it because they were on deadline. That’s all I have to say about that…

I have more I want to say but I’ll get to that later…

I’m really wanting to see Bruce Springsteen in concert.  He’s coming to the new Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri.  But the tickets range from $135-$883.  I guess this is what happens when you are a famous singer with a major record label who sings for the blue collar worker…you have tickets that only white collar workers can afford…

Anyway, I’m a creative (fiction) writer.  All I can say is, if you can get me to the concert, I’ll make you the hero (or heroine) of my novel.  Or I’ll let you go with the option of having me never base a charicter off of you for the rest of my life.  It’s up to you…

I will settle for the $135 seats…

Hello everyone who comes to this site!  I literally just started using wordpress within the last 12 hours.  This is going to be my first real blog.  I came here from xanga because you have to be a member to leave a comment.  I found out recently that you don’t have to be a member here to leave a comment.  So please, if you read this, please leave some kind of comment…

I’m a KU Jayhawk with one more year to go before I graduate.  This June, I’ve been taking Soc 304 at the Edward’s Campus.  Wednesday night (6-25…I guess that will be tonight) is my last class (though I’ve got a 6-page paper due Friday I’ll have to e-mail to the teacher by 5pm at the absolute latest).
Anyway, here’s the issue.  All the vending machines that dispense a beverage of some kind (water, soda, energy drink…) all serve plastic bottles.  Now, the Edward’s Campus does have places to recycle your used beverage container…provided that it was a in a soda can.  You can’t get any soda cans at all on campus.  The only thing you can get are bottles but there is no place to recycle the plastics…ONLY aluminum cans!  That’s it!
Am I the only one who sees a problem with this?

Hello anyone who comes to my site!

I just joined today (June 24, 2008).  I used to have a blog at Xanga but I dropped it because no one left me any comments…ever…and you actually had to be a member in order to leave a comment.
I recently found from a friend of mine on here that you can leave a comment and you don’t need to be a member.

But I missed blogging too.  So I came here and decided to blog again.  So enjoy many potentially insightful blogs in the future.
