Friday finally arrived this last week.  It took forever.  Then, on my way out to KU, I wound up with a flat tire.  I can’t say where it happened but I do know that by the time that I passed under K-7, my car started shaking and had an uncontrollable rattling noise.  I pulled over to the side of the road and found that my driver’s side rear tire was both flat and smoking.  Someone who works road side services for the state came and helped me put on the spare.  I was able to make it out to class with about 10 minutes to spare.  On my way home, I stopped at Tires Plus.  The old tire was shot and couldn’t be repaired.  So I got a new tire.

That night, I went to see the continuation of the Roving Imp 2 year anniversary called Kingdom of the Crystal Imp.  But since there were about 10 people in the audience and about 4 performers, it wound up being an Improv Jam.  Then, for the long form, it was decided for everyone who was present who was involved with the show last weekend would be on stage for the long form of Prequel.  The show was followed by Dictionary Soup.  I got to see a time machine made out of a toilet!

Saturday was improv workshop and then that night was Red Rubber Ball and Biblioclast.  Red Rubber Ball is a group that starts out with one of my favorite formats I’ve seen which is living room.  The group gets 1 word from the audience and takes off on a conversation that starts with the suggestion and goes who knows where before the end of the show.  (Not in the show, but the idea would be the audience gives the word “chair” and they take off and by the end of the living room stuff, they’re talking about the difference between swallows).  In the middle of this “living room discussion”, they do scenes based upon what was just said.  The second half of the show was Plu-Run (pronunciation, but I don’t know about spelling).  This is a 2 person scene per actor.  There are combinations that involve each one have stage time with the other improvers…They are usually all the same characters.  At 9 it was Biblioclast.  The piece of work they used for their main story line, which was chosen by me, was Man of La Mancha.  Next month, they will be using Jurassic Park, also chosen by me. (For the record, I wasn’t the only one to give suggestions this time and only 4 of mine have been chosen).

Today is Easter.  Just for the record, I didn’t dress up for church.  I wore a hoodie.  It was too cold to dress up…I actually don’t dress up a whole lot anyway…I’ve only just recently started wearing ties for shows that I’ve been in at the Roving Imp…the ones that I’ve known about.  I really don’t like dressing up.

This coming weekend, I will be working box-office at the Roving Imp on both Friday and Saturday nights.  But they’re not doing improv because a good few of them will be in Chicago.  So instead on both Friday and Saturday night, I’m working box-office for a show called FAT.  It’s a one woman show writen by and starring Martha Maggio.

Look for more coming up soon…

Hello everyone who happens to come across my site.  I have a few things I’d like to mention.

My main computer that I use doesn’t let me open up the catagory list.  So I’m on another computer that does let me do so.  So I’m going to try and use all the catagories in one list here to get them to be able to appear.

I got 2 albums a couple of weeks ago.  They were Warren Zevon albums: Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School, and Sentimental Hygiene.  By the way, if you haven’t been able to tell yet, I’m a huge Warren Zevon fan.

Speaking of Warren Zevon, I’ve been reading his biography, the one by his ex-wife.  I’m a slow reader…but I enjoy it.

Between late December of last year and early June of this year, I was writing a story called Matthew of the IHOP Restroom.  This guy goes to IHOP at 3:30am and goes to the restroom but in stead of going into the restroom, he enters a poratl to the 18th Demension.  The general idea was in response to having read the book STARDUST after having seen the movie about 3 or 4 times.  Anyway, I’ve started writing a spin-off called Dan of a Bank on Metcalf.  Dan was a friend of Matthew who happens to be a loveable idiot…but he’s kind of a pervert when he’s drunk.  If you are interested in reading any of these stories, you can visit my myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/classic_rockaholic

Bruce Springsteen is still coming to town and I still don’t have tickets.  But whatever.  The day before, which is this coming Saturday, I will be performing in my first live improv show.  The place is called The Roving Imp.  It’s in Bonner Springs.  I will be performing a Chicago style Harold with a group of fellow improvers.  I’ve been taking the workshops there at the Roving Imp for about a month now and having the time of my life!

I finally got the licence plate for my Chevy Aveo this last Tuesday.  Good thing to.  The 30-day experation tag was up on Wednesday.  But I got the letter in the mail this week that I have to pay car tax…on my old car that I had to get rid of because of the hail storm.  Now I have to let the state know that I now own the Chevy Aveo.  But also this week, I’ll be going back up to KU for my last full year of classes.  I will be a graduate of the Unversity of Kansas (hopefully) by May ‘09…To give you some idea, I’ve been going to college since Aug. ‘02.  I’m ready to be out.

I found out a week ago that I have an older 1/2 sister.  I mean, I knew that I had 2 older half sisters but it was one of those things that I stuck in the back of my mind.  I’m an only child and I’ve been an only child for 25 years and almost 2 months.  Now, not just do I have sisters, but I’ve also been an uncle for the past 17 years.

I saw Mummy 3 this last Monday and really enjoied it.  I want to go see Tropic Thunder.  I made a comment in my workshop that I already know that Jack Black’s charicter would be the most like me.  They suggested I should see the movie first to make sure the charicter who is most like me ISN’T a rapist.  So, hopefully, he’s not.  I just assumed because I see a lot of myself in a lot of other Jack Black charicters.  But anyway…

Yeah, so this is an update.  I’m sorry if anyone comes along and reads this and thinks I tried to type the most I’ve ever typed for the sole purpose of having more people come to my site.  That is not my intention at all.  I just wanted to make sure I could use all my catagories in one post.

Okay, so I finally saw The Dark Knight and I just wanted to say somethings you can agree with me or disagree with me.  It doesn’t really matter to me which…I just want you to tell me in a response if you agree or disagree.  Either way, I’m sure it’s late enough that most of the people who might read this have already seen it.  So here it goes…

The movie starts with the Joker (played by the now late Heath Ledger) robbing a bank and killing off his hinch men 1by1 as the job gets finished.  When Batman first shows up, he’s got to stop the Scarecrow from doing something scarey (because Scarecrow had escaped from the Assylum or something and can think of nothing better to do than to scare people).  Rachel who was played by Katie Holmes in the first movie was now played by Maggie Gyllenhaal (which is a plus in my opinion…if I had a list of actresses who were total hotties, she’d be towards the top…plus she was never in Dawson’s Creek…or converted to scientology… enough said).  But in this movie, she’s dating politician Harvey Dent played by Aaron Eckhart…you can guess what that will lead to before the movie is even half over (it was very long…)  Anyway, Bruce is jellious…obviuosly.  But he’s Batman so he’s busy trying to stop the Joker from making a joke out of killing people.
This is the movie in a nutshell.  I seem to ironically decided to give more of a joke review but seriously, that is the plot line of the movie.  But besides the fact that the movie is long (and a few other issues that I won’t go into) I really liked this movie…a whole lot better than Batman Begins.  I don’t know if it’s the best movie I’ve seen all summer, but it’s pretty close.  The only thing I wish is that Heath Ledger hadn’t gotten so much into his charicter that it wound up bringing him down to the point where he needed theropy.  He was dedicated to his role to a fault and if it turns out he won’t even get nominated for an oscar for the role, I’ll be pissed at the Acadamy…but I usually don’t agree with the acadamy anyway…we’ll see how that turns out.
